TIME-TRAVEL ADVENTURE BY THEATER WITH A MISSION
WHAT: Florida Family Feud, 1776 -St. Augustine Edition
A fun and educational play that pits the Capulets against the Montagues in a St. Augustine-themed historical showdown.
Play Description: Family Feud in Florida, 1776 weaves together 3 adventures in experiential learning. As time travel, the play transports audiences back to Florida during the American Revolution, where they meet real historical characters from Florida families who are feuding about the Declaration of Independence (Loyalists vs. Patriots). As a bridge across language and culture barriers, the play guides audiences into drama’s most famous family feud, where highlights from Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet compete with new ideas from Lope de Vega’s Castelvines y Monteses (Capulets vs. Montagues). As game show, the play challenges audiences to win prizes by working together to make discoveries about dramatic literature, Florida history, and productive conflict resolution. Fun. Factual. Interactive.
