While thirteen colonies declared independence in 1776, Florida remained loyal to the
British Crown. Theater with a Mission invites you to rediscover American history, as you
experience how Florida shaped the founding of the United States.

FEUDING FAMILIES IN FLORIDA, 1776
TWAM’s new play for 2026

It’s a time machine. It’s a revolutionary revamping of Romeo & Juliet. It’s a game show.

As time travel, TWAM’s Feuding Families transports you to Florida during the
American Revolution, where you’ll meet real historical characters who’re feuding about
the Declaration of Independence (Loyalists vs. Patriots).

As a bridge across barriers of language and culture, TWAM’s world premiere guides you
into world theater’s most famous family feud, where highlights from Shakespeare’s
Romeo & Juliet compete with new ideas from Lope de Vega’s Castelvines y Monteses
(Capulets vs. Montagues).

As a game show, TWAM’s new play invites you to win prizes by collaborating with other
members of the audience to answer questions about dramatic literature, Florida history,
and productive conflict resolution.

Fun. Factual. Interactive. Coming to you free during the Time Travel to Florida 1776
Festival on May 29-31. Register now!
