Dowdy Corporation Celebrates 30 Years of Excellence and Legacy in Plumbing and Site Development

Tallahassee, FL – January 23, 2025 – Dowdy Corporation, a locally owned and operated plumbing and site development company, is proud to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Founded in 1995 by H. Richard Dowdy, the company has become a pillar of the Tallahassee community. Today, it continues a rich legacy of quality craftsmanship and community dedication under the leadership of his daughter, Jenny Lewis, and her husband, Jason Lewis.

Jenny and Jason, both Tallahassee natives, are the proud owners and operators of Dowdy Corporation. Jenny, who has been involved in the family business since childhood, spent summers and school breaks working alongside her father, H. Richard Dowdy, and continued her hands-on experience while pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. Jason, who shares her passion for construction, met Jenny in high school. He, too, worked during school breaks while playing baseball at Louisiana State University and earning his degree.

For over 20 years, Jenny has managed the company’s executive side, while Jason oversees operations. Their leadership, combined with their deep personal commitment to the business, has allowed Dowdy Corporation to thrive and expand. "It’s been an incredible journey to continue in this business and industry; there’s never a dull moment," said Jenny. "What began as a small, family-run business has grown into something larger, but the core values of integrity, hard work, and community remain unchanged."

Today, Dowdy Corporation employs 85 team members, with 25% of the staff having been with the company for an average of 12 years. This remarkable employee retention speaks to the company’s culture of loyalty, respect, and opportunity for growth. "Our team is truly the backbone of Dowdy," said Jason.
