Some of TWAM's 2/8/15 cast for a Historic Wedding in Spanish Florida

Welcome!

Theater with a Mission is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation made up of actors, scholars, and cultural explorers based in Tallahassee, Florida. Our collective origins are Hispanic, Caucasian, African American and Native American. Our youngest actor is 6 years old, and our oldest…Well, let’s just say our actors represent many different stages of life!

We’re united by one quest: to rediscover history by reviving plays from el Siglo de Oro, the Spanish Golden Age. We’ve researched and created Lope’s (small) New World (a new translation of Lope de Vega’s Nuevo mundo for Viva Florida 500 in 2013), the Auto de los Reyes Magos in De Soto’s Tallahassee in 2014, and an Indian/Spanish Wedding at Mission San Luis in 2015.

We’re currently touring El muerto: or Better Wed than Dead, a rollicking farce that transports you across barriers of time and language as a smart Hispanic woman from 1658 tricks her stubborn brother into giving his blessing to her marriage with a spellbinding Astrólogo-Sailor.
